Dayton Firefighters Federal Credit Union Rate Update

Dayton Firefighters Federal Credit Union is now offering 6.86% apy on 60 month IRA certificates with a minimum deposit of $10,000 and regular certificates with a minimum deposit of $100,000. They are also offering 6.36% apy on 48 month versions of these certificates. Please note that the penality for early withdrawl is "2% of the certificate principal amount for certificates 36 months or longer in maturity". Field of membership includes "active or pensioned employees of the Dayton, Ohio Fire Department". It also includes those who "live, work, worship, or attend school in, and businesses and other legal entities located in Montgomery County, Ohio" as well as immeadiate family of current members.

5.00% Meriwest 5 month liquid investment account & $50 referral bonuses

Meriwest Credit Union is offering 5% apy on a 5 month term liquid investment account. This account allows for up to 6 withdrawals per month and unlimited deposits. There is a minimum deposit of $10,000 with a maximum deposit of $150,000($250,000 per household) to open this account. $500 is the minimum for each subsequent deposit. Fort Belvoir Credit Union is offering 6.43% apy on a 60 month share certificate. They are also offering 6.17% apy on 36 month share certificates and 6.27% apy on 48 month share certificates. The minimum deposit for these certificates is $1,000. They are also offering 6.17% apy on a special 33 month certificate which I posted about on June 13th. See link for additional details. 7% USE Credit Union 7 month certificate & other good rates

USE Credit Union is offering a 7% apy 7 month certificate of deposit. A deposit of exactly $2,500 in new money is required for this offer. In addition, you must have a $100 minimum deposit in the credit union's checking account and a $5.00 share account. Existing members who are unable to meet the new money requirement may qualify by referring a new member who takes advantage of this 7% cd. Note that is a more generous 7% special than was previously offered by USE and mentioned in my May 30th post. USE is also offering a 6.00% apy 18 month certificate with a minimum deposit is $5,000. You must have a separate $5.00 Ownership Share Account to open this certificate. You also may make additional deposits of $1,000 or greater before maturity with this 6.00% special. Hillside Hospital Federal Credit Union is offering 6.17% apy on 25-35 month Flex IRA Jumbo Certificates. The minimum deposit for this rate is $20,000. The field of membership for this credit union includes employees, certain volunteers, and retirees of the "North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System, its satellite facilities and the Queen’s Hospital Center affiliation in Queens Village, West Hempstead, Bayside, Jamaica, Far Rockaway or New York, New York". 6.25% First Northern Credit Union 36 month Coverdell Education Savings certificates

Northern Federal Credit Union is offering 6.25% apy on 36 month Coverdell Education Savings certificates according to their website. These certificates can be opened with a minimum deposit of $500. Field of membership is open to anyone who lives or works in any of the following Illinois counties: Boone, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Will and Winnebago.

6.03% Melrose Credit Union 5 year jumbo certificate

Melrose Credit Union is offering 6.03% apy on 5 year jumbo certificates. The minimum deposit for this rate is $1,000,000. IRA deposits of $4,000 or greater and regular share certificates of $5,000 or more for a five year term earn 5.82% apy. See site for additional details. Accounts are insured up to $100,000 through the NCUA. According to their website, Melrose Credit Union's Field of membership is open to anyone regardless of where they live or how they earn a living.

6.00% Mountain High Federal Credit Union 5 year certificate

Mountain High Federal Credit Union is offering 6% apy on a 60 month share certificate. The minimum deposit for this certificate is $500. They also offer an additional .15% apy for deposits of $75,000 or more. Mountain High FCU is a Utah based credit union. Field of membership in this credit union is open to those who live, work, worship or study in Utah or Juab counties as well as immediate family of current members.

6% Northwest Federal Credit Union 60 month jumbo certificate shares

Northwest Federal Credit Union is offering 6% apy on 60 month jumbo certificates with a deposit of $100,000 or more. I've been following this credit union for awhile and rates were actually higher last fall for their jumbo shares, even for shorter term certificates. Still, their rates for jumbo shares have been consistantly high. Field of membership includes employees of the National GeoSpatial Intelligence Agency and the National Reconnaissance Office among other organizations including a variety of select employee groups.

7.19% AA Credit Union 7 month 70th Anniversary Share Certificate Update

6% Addison Avenue Federal Credit Union 15 month certificate

Addison Avenue Federal Credit Union is offering 6% apy on a 15 month certificate share. The minimum deposit for this special is $5,000 and the account must be funded with "new money". This certificate may be opened in a branch or over the phone. There are a variety of ways to meet Addison Avenue's Field of membership, including joining the Financial Fitness Association for $5.

7% apy Heritage Community Credit Union 7 month certificate special

Heritage Community Credit Union is offering 7% apy on a 7 month certificate. This certificate offer expires on or before July 27 and must be funded with "new money" in an amount of exactly $7,000. Field of membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or goes to school in Sacramento or Placer Counties in California.

6.17% Energy Credit Union 6 month certificate

Energy Credit Union is offering 6.17% apy on a 6 month certificate with a minimum deposit of $1,000 and a maximum deposit of $10,000. This certificate special is good through June 30th and must be funded with "new money". Field of membership is open to those who live or work in certain New England communities and employees and retirees of KeySpan Energy New England as well as family of those eligible for membership.

6.17% Families First Federal Credit Union 36 month certificate

Families First Federal Credit Union is offering 6.17% apy on a 36 month share certificate. Field of membership in Families First FCU is limited to those who live, work worship, or are educated in Natrona County, Wyoming. You are also eligible for membership in Families First FCU if you have a family member who is already a member. New members are required to make a deposit of five dollars into a share account.

6% Apple Federal Credit Union 60 month certificate & other good rates

Apple Federal Credit Union is currently offering 6% apy on a 60 month share certificate. The minimum deposit for this certificate is $500. Apple FCU is also offering a number of high rates on other accounts. They offer 6.10% apy on 84 month certificates and 6.20% apy on 120 month certificates. Funds in their Education Super Saver account earn 5% apy with a minimum deposit of $5, although there is a 2.5% penalty for non-qualifying withdrawals. Deposits of $100,000+ also earn 5% apy in their Super Money Market Account. Finally for those interested in a shorter term cd, Apple FCU is offering a "new money" 50 week term special certificate at 5.50% apy. Field of membership includes a variety of select employer groups, alumni and faculty groups, as well as members of a number of national associations. See site for additional details.

6% apy Research Federal Credit Union 43 month certificate special

Research Federal Credit Union is currently offering 6% apy on a 43 month certificate special. To qualify for this certificate, you must have a Research FCU checking account with direct deposit. These rates apply to both IRA and regular certificates. The minimum deposit for this special is $10,000. Field of membership includes employees and retirees of General Motors who are located at the following locations: the Renaissance Center Corporate Headquarters, the Warren Tech Center, and the Milford Proving Grounds. Membership is also extended to employees and retirees of companies that belong to either the Warren, Center Line, Sterling Heights, Huron Valley, or South Lyon Chamber of Commerce as well as immediate family of any of the aforementioned groups.

Navy Federal Credit Union 3.25% apr 36 month new and late model car loans

Navy Federal Credit Union currently offers a low 3.25% apr on 36 month loans for new or 2005-2006 late model cars. By comparison, the highest rate listed on a popular rate search engine for a similar term loan in my area is 5.5% apr. Field of membership for Navy Federal includes all Department of the Navy Personnel among others. See site for details.

Agriculture Federal Credit Union Update

As posted on last Thursday here, Agriculture FCU was offering 6.5% apy on 4 & 5 year certificates. The rates for both certificate terms have been lowered to 6% apy. This comes on the heels of the end of their previous 6% apy 6 month & 6.36% apy 3 year certificate promotion which was short lived as well.

6.17% Fort Belvoir Credit Union 33 month certificate special

Fort Belvoir Credit Union is offering 6.17% apy on a 33 month certificate special now through June 30. At least 50% of the money used to open this certificate must be from money new to the credit union. The minimum deposit for this special is $1,000. 6.24% State Department Federal Credit Union 5 year IRA certificate

State Department Federal Credit Union is offering 6.24% apy on a 5 year IRA certificate for those members who are in their Capital Club. To join the Capital Club, you must open a State Department FCU checking account and have your paycheck or annuity directly deposited. If direct deposit isn't available to you, you can also join the Capital Club by having a minimum of $500 in your regular share savings account. Field of membership is limited and is comprised of a number of select employee groups as well as employees and members of a number of other organizations.

6% Justice Federal Credit Union 6 month certificate special

Justice Federal Credit Union is offering 6% apy on a 6 month certificate special. This certificate must be funded with "new money" to the credit union. The minimum deposit for this special is $1,000 with a maximium of $250,000. Field of membership in Justice FCU is open to relatives of eligible members, a variety of contractor employees, US and DC Court employees, Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice employees and retirees, as well as members of certain Law Enforcement Associations and other eligible groups. Many should be able to find themselves eligible for membership in Justice FCU by being a member of the National Legal Aid and Defender Association.

6.50% Telco FCU 12 month certificate special

Telco Federal Credit Union is offering 6.50% apy on a 12 month certificate with a minimum deposit of $25,000. They are also offering 6% apy on deposits between $5,000 and $9,999 and 6.25% on deposits between $10,000 and $24,999. Field of membership is open to family members of those who are eligible for membership in Telco FCU, employees of certain select groups, members of Faith Lutheran Church, and those who live, work or worship in Custer County, South Dakota or within a 15 mile radius of Hill City.

6% Fort Knox Federal Credit Union 7 month certificate

Fort Knox Federal Credit Union is offering 6% apy on a 7 month loyalty certificate share special. Only current members are eligible for this offer since this certificate can only be opened with existing funds that were on deposit as of June 7, 2006. For this special there is a maximum deposit of $50,000. Field of membership is open to those who are members of certain select employer groups or those who live, work or worship in Boyle, Breckinridge, Grayson, Hart, LaRue, Meade or Nelson Counties in Kentucky as well as relatives of anyone who can currently become a member.

6.07% Black Hills FCU 31 month special certificate & other good rates and terms

Black Hills Federal Credit Union is offering a number of 6%+ certificates for large deposits. For deposits of $200,000 or more, they are offering 6.07% apy for their 31 month certificate and 6.11% apy for 5-8 year certificates. You must have a Ultimate Checking account at the time these cds are opened to recieve these rates. Lower rates are available for lesser deposits. Field of membership for Black Hills FCU includes those "who live, work, worship, or attend school, and businesses or other legal entities in Pennington, Custer, Fall River, Lawrence, or Meade Counties in South Dakota" as well as immediate family of current members.

6% Ent Federal Credit Union 13 month certificate special

Ent Federal Credit Union is offering 6% apy on a 13 month certificate special. This certificate comes with a bump up feature. If the rate of a 13 month certificate goes up during the term of your certificate, you have the one time option to bump it up to the then current rate. This certificate must be funded with a minimum of $500 of new money not currently with Ent Federal Credit Union. At least 50% of the funds for this certificate special must come from money new to the credit union for deposits above $500. Field of membership for Ent Federal Credit Union includes those who live, work, worship or attend school in Denver, El Paso, Pueblo, or Teller Counties as well as family of current members.

7% Pacific Service Credit Union 6 month special certificates

Pacific Service Credit Union is offering 7% apy on two different 6 month certificate specials. New members 21 and under may open this certificate with a minimum deposit of $100 and a maximum of $5,000. New members over 21 have the same maximum deposit and a $1,000 minimum deposit. Field of membership for this credit union includes employees and retirees of PG&E Corporation and its domestic subsidiaries as well as "anyone who lives, works, attends school, or worships in Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Marin, Napa, Placer, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano or Sonoma counties". 6% Silver State Schools Credit Union 7 month certificate

Silver State Schools Credit Union is offering 6% apy on a 7 month certificate with a minimum deposit of $5,000. Upon maturity, according to the terms of this cd, the funds from this certificate will be transferred to the member's regular savings account. Field of membership in Silver State Schools Credit Union is broad, including those who are sponsors of KLVX, Channel 10, PBS Television Station in Nevada. Those who don't live near a branch must "have your signature notarized by a Notary Public and returned with a photocopy of a valid I.D. and a personal or cashier's check for $100 (to fund a share account) to SSSCU, Attn: Operations Support Services, P.O. Box 12037, Las Vegas, NV 89112".

6.50% Agriculture Federal Credit Union 4 & 5 year certificates

The 6% 6 month & 6.36% 3 year Agriculture FCU cds that I posted earlier are no longer available. However, Agriculture Federal Credit Union is offering 6.50% apy on 4 and 5 year certificates of deposit. The minimum deposit is $1,000 for these cds. There are a variety of avenues to membership at this credit union. One way to qualify for Agriculture FCU membership is through membership in CityDance Ensemble , "AFCU supports CityDance by offering membership to members of CityDance and contributing the $20.00 membership fee to CityDance".

6.15% Mountain High Federal Credit Union 5 year Jumbo Certificates

Mountain High Federal Credit Union is offering 6.15% apy on 5 year certificate of deposits of $75,000 and higher for both Traditional and IRA accounts. Bell Com Credit Union is offering 6% apy on 6 year traditional and IRA certificates. The minimum deposit for this special is $10,000. Field of membership for this credit union is limited to Kent, Ottawa, Barry, Allegan, and Newaygo counties in Western Michigan, as well as employees of certain select employer groups, and family of current members. Los Angeles Times Federal Credit Union is having an "open house" special from June 5-9. They are offering a 6 month Certificate at 6% APY with a $10,000 minimum deposit of "new money". Field of membership includes the employees and families of the "Los Angeles Times, CCN, Recycler, Aramark, Cafe Cafe, Title Court Service and Downtown LA Motors".

6.22% apy Coastal Hills Federal Credit Union 60 month Jumbo IRA New Member Certiticates

New 8% Chartway Federal Credit Union 8 month certificate

Last month we reported on a 8% apy certificate deal from Chartway Federal Credit Union. This month, they are running a new 8 month 8% apy certificate offer with different terms and conditions. New members are eligible for this offer if they are referred by an existing member. Existing members are eligible if they refer a new member and the new member opens either a 8% certificate and a prime shares account or a prime shares account with a checking account that has direct deposit of $500+/month. The minimum deposit for these certificates is $500 with a $8,000 maximum. Limit of three 8% certificates per household. Chartway has a membership that is limited to those who "live, work, worship or go to school in a defined geographic area served by our Virginia, Florida, Rhode Island and Texas branches".

U of C Federal Credit Union 9% apy certificate update

As I reported on my Monday, May 23rd post, U of C Federal Credit Union is offering a 9% certificate special. U of C has now changed their name to Elevations Credit Union. The cd deal remains unchanged.

10% Glacier Hills Credit Union 1 year cd

Glacier Hills Credit Union is offering a 10% apy 1 year certificate of deposit. The deposit must be exactly $1,000. There are a limited number of these certificates available beginning June 3rd. Telcom Credit Union is offering 6.00% apy on a 61 month certificate. The minimum deposit for this special is $2,500. While there are a numer of ways to join Telcom Credit Union, Field of membership is open to anyone by virtue of a $2 donation to the Salvation Army Bed and Bread program.
